Marko

Marko Matysik works in Paris and London in the world that is his passion:
Haute Couture. His love for luxe goes backto the 1980swhen he worked in the
house ofManfred Schneider in Munich, then designing for Victor Edelstein in the
90’s, preferred couturier of Diana Princess of Wales. Also as knitwear
designer for Valentino, Montana and Rifat Ozbek. He has worked as
consultant for Boudicca, and Krizia, Marko used to presented an
accessories collection every season at Colette.
Some of his belt collections, are inset with precious and stones mounted
on sterling silver, others are made from recycled silk and leather. Other
bespoke accessories are crafted from 15th to 18th-century ribbons, fabrics
and buckles which he ‘match-makes’ into, one-of-a kind pieces. His work
is collected and treasured by designers and celebrities including the late
Karl Lagerfeld, Madonna and Daphne Guinness. He continues to make
mindful Haute Couture pieces for private clients.
A freelance stylist, art director, illustrator and writer, he has been editor-in-
chief for Big Show magazine and contributing fashion editor for Drama. He
has made monthly pages for Elle UK and for Vogue Japan called ‘Front
Row’ and Marko’s Diary’ and is now creative director for Marie-Helen de
Taillac events that are completely sustainable and regenerative.
Marko launched MontaguMatysik collection of accessories for humans and
their best friend made out of poodle fluff. This brings together all the things
that matter most to Marko: playfulness, sustainability, the pleasures of up-
cycling old treasures into new delights and his passion for dogs.
Currently he is deeply inspired by the Light House’s lamp fixtures such as
cut glass or crystal chandelier drops and decorative brass attachments.
These he is whipping up into unique belts some made of antique brocade,
book binding leather or denim, that he creates with Cingular the royal belt
maker.
Last but not least he is also an Ambassador for the Cadogan Hotel,
London Ambassador for GFX (Global Fashion Exchange) and also for
Swapchain.
