Genevieve Devine x Light House

Gracing the Chinoiserie Showroom from August 7th to August 15th, Genevieve Devine is an emerging label that reimagines the potential of salvage, craft and couture - teasing the boundary of artisanal craft and radical provocation.

Genevieve Devine launched her eponymous label in 2022 after leaving her native Newcastle for London and graduating from Central Saint Martins MA Fashion.

Working alongside her partner Isaac Murai, each piece emerges from their London-based atelier out of an evolving curation of reclaimed textiles, deadstock materials, and foraged objects. Prioritising silk, corsetry, leather and metal for their evocative and tactile natures, the garments are carefully caressed into being one by one. Seduced by the narrative potential of cut and cloth, they weave in reveries, notions and half-truths to capture an urgent moment of undressed, deshabillé beauty.

The work is defined by a raw, rebellious elegance, straddling the exquisite chaos of romantic deconstruction, alongside the contradictions of ‘emergent design’. With an insouciance underpinned by meticulous craft, each piece is an individual record of a process. The garments show their working and are all the richer for it.

Featured in Middle Plane, Document Journal and The Face, as well as earning a cult following among performers and artists like Caroline Polachek, Celeste and Nadia Lee Cohen. Genevieve Devine offers a vision of British fashion that is emotionally resonant, sustainably driven, and unapologetically idiosyncratic.

Most recently for Genevieve Devine was the international debut of ‘DEVINE BABY’ a capsule collection of one-offs pieces with the artist Dave Baby. Launched with a store takeover of Garden in Shibuya, Tokyo, the collection was accompanied by live garment customisations by the artist himself.
